SWS Lawyers Senior Appointments Take Effect and New Graduates to Arrive
We are excited to ring in 2026 with the coming into effect of two key promotions within our team, as previously announced in our recent end of 2025 newsletter. These promotions support and reflect the growth and continued renewal of the firm and our commitment to excellence in client service.
Effective 1 January 2026, Nathan Avery-Williams has been promoted to Partner. Since joining SWS Lawyers, Nate has made a significant impact. His transition from the NSW Bar to leading our disputes team has brought a level of legal acumen and strategic foresight that has already proven invaluable to our clients, bringing fresh ideas to longstanding legal and procedural issues and helping to save one client many tens of millions of dollars in a recent long-running contractual dispute.
Nate’s promotion is a testament to his outstanding results and the exceptional rapport he has built with our clients, the SWS team and other professionals with whom we work.
We are also very pleased to celebrate the promotion of David Ifield to the role of Senior Associate in our Corporate and Commercial team.
David has been with SWS Lawyers since before his admission as a solicitor, and we are very proud and privileged to have supported his continuous development as a lawyer since that time. He possesses an outstanding legal knowledge, is very patient and has the ability to foster excellent relationships with both colleagues, clients and friends of the firm. His unflappable ‘calm-under-pressure’ composure sets David apart from his contemporaries. These are some of the traits that make him a steady hand for our clients.
David’s promotion reflects his outstanding contribution to our firm and the qualities he has demonstrated from day one.
As we mark these milestones for Nate and David, we are also looking forward to the arrival of our new graduate lawyers in early February.
Following a recruitment process that saw a high volume of outstanding candidates, we are pleased to welcome two highly talented graduates from the University of Newcastle. We are confident that these new starters will strengthen our team and uphold the high standards of service that our clients expect from SWS Lawyers.
