SWS Lawyers named as Finalist in Australian Law Awards 2018

We are very pleased to announce that SWS Lawyers is a finalist in the Australian Law Awards 2018 for Regional/Suburban Law Firm of the Year.  The award ceremony will be held in Sydney at the end of August.

This recognition reflects the standing and success of the firm across national markets from its Newcastle base. We have built a practice that provides services and legal expertise that is equivalent to the quality and specialisation available in Australian capital cities.

The nomination for Regional/Suburban Law Firm of the Year follows hot on the heels of recent global success at the International M&A Awards held in July in New York City. Our mergers and acquisitions group, led by James Stevenson, was part of the deal team that won two global M & A awards.  Acting on behalf of the vendors in the sale of Hunter-based mining solutions business, WearX to Metso Corporation, a multi-billion dollar Finnish industrial company, the deal team won:

• Global Markets M&A Atlas Awards – Global Deal of the Year: Mid Markets; and
• The M&A Advisor 10th Annual International M&A Awards – M&A Deal of the Year (under USD50m).

The two international awards recognise the quality and experience of our corporate team, and the expertise we are able to bring to achieve exceptional outcomes for our clients in mergers and acquisitions transactions.  Our corporate team has acted for clients within the Hunter Region and nationally for more than 15 years, and are proud to have been involved in some of the most significant transactions in our region during that time.

While we are proud to receive the formal recognition of the awards and the nominations, our primary motivation is the desire to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients in every matter we undertake. We also recognise that we would not win or be nominated for any awards if it were not for the outstanding efforts of all of our people, the quality of work that our clients bring to the firm and the excellent relationships we have with our fellow professionals and co-advisors.
