Principal of SWS Lawyer’s Litigation team and employment law specialist Susan Moran has been appointed to the Mai-Wel board of directors.

The Mai-Wel Group is one of the leading NDIA providers of disability and employment services in the lower Hunter, delivering services and programs to more than 800 clients across nine local government areas.

“As a Novocastrian I have been always been aware of Mai-Wel and its long history serving Newcastle and the Hunter region,” Susan said.

“When the opportunity came up to join the board I jumped at the idea.”

Susan has previously served on a NSW not for profit board in the family support sector.

With more than twenty years’ legal experience, Susan was recently recognised in three industry awards as a multi-finalist for best Regional/Suburban Lawyer of the Year in the 2019 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards, and for both Regional Lawyer of the Year and Mentor of the Year in the NSW Women Lawyers Achievement Awards 2019.

A mother of two young boys, she is a strong advocate for flexible working options to better support women lawyers who are balancing professional and personal aspirations in a highly competitive vocation.

“I am really looking forward to learning more about Mai-Wel and the people it supports, and extremely honoured to be in a position to help contribute to some important work in the disability and employment services sector,” Susan said.
